Grandpa´s holiday cottages are located in Sierra del Segura, in Albacete province, between the plains of La Mancha and Murcia orchard. This fascinating landscape is a perfect place for relaxing but also to enjoy  hiking or visiting some of the historical and artistic treasures of this area, like Nerpio cave paintings, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, or Yeste castle.

In the riverbed of Segura, we show up, because of their beauty, Fuensanta reservoir in Yeste and the Cenajo in the border with the region of Murcia.

The main tributary of the Segura is the Mundo river. His source, that forms an impressive waterfall in Riópar, is one of the most beautiful landscape of this area.

We recommend you:

  • A stroll along the paths of the estate, visiting the arqueological site from the Muslim period.
  • A nice walk to the Segura river, located only 45 minutes from the houses. You will have the chance to take beautiful pictures in your way there.
  • Nerpio cave paintings, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
  • Take a relaxing walk along the Segura River in the “Gallego”, a nature site, located in the road between Férez - Elche de la Sierra. In summer time you can also take a dip in the river.
  • The “Route of the Atalayas", through the Santiaguista Encomienda of Yeste and Taibilla, well signposted paths.
  • Go on an outing to the source of the Mundo River, one of the most beautiful landscapes of Castilla-La Mancha geography.
  • A visit to the Wild Mushrooms Museum in Molinicos, a very interesting place for mycology lovers.
  • A visit to Yeste castle, a monumental castle of Andaluz origin.
  • A visit to Letur, the most important Arabic Historical Site in the province of Albacete. Its historical quarter with its Islamic layout is considered an Historic Artistic Site from 1983.
  • Fishing lovers will also enjoy this destination. Segura river is a perfect place to practice this sport. 15 euros per day. 7 pieces per day.
  • Gastronomy, based on the produce of the land, is another of the main attractions of the region. If you come to visit us, we recommend you to taste  the”gachas migas”, the pumpkin guisao or manchego cheese. There’re also many traditional bakery recipes like the fritillas, the hijuelas, or the Easter small breads, etc..
